I'm assuming that's you on acoustic? It's got a nice crisp sound. The whole backing is fine, if maybe a tiny bit faster than the original?
The vocals, however, have that 'boxy' sound again, and are not as out front as they probably should be.

Yes I did the Acoustic guitar mic'ed with the Audio Techtronics condensor. I was listening to Cat Stevens and noticed a huge amount of reverb to his voice. Vocals may be over processed but I was trying to find a medium for fixing some of the flat notes. Thanks for your input Mike. I may redo vocals later since it was a 1-take instead of my normal 10-take recording.

I got a copy of Melodyne after hearing what Scott (Havin' Fun) did with a vocal track I sent him a few years back. Considering what you've spent on drum plugins and the like, it's not too expensive to get the basic or intermediate versions. The first track I've used it on was 'Have No Faith' and I'm looking forward to using it again whenever I get another track recorded.

Ooh I like this a lot, great song. One of those ones I know but can't even remember how I know it.
Great job on the backing track. Vocal is well performed to be sure, but I see where Mike is coming from here.
It almost sounds like your doubling it and its causing some weird phase-chorus like effect, which I feel is not the best for this track to be sure... I wonder if the reverb choice has a lot of early reflections in it, might look at the settings there. Might be something to do with the pre-delay. Adding pre delay on the verb may help, like Mike said, bring it forward a bit... I also wonder if your using a high pass filter and filtering just a touch too much into the vocal fundamentals if not, this might be the rare time I'd add some low end on the vocal to bring that out a bit. Would love to hear the remix. Wish I could get this good on a one take vocal! Enjoyed this one a lot Stan, good work.

Its amazing technology that really speeds up a lot of the tracking. I find it frees me up to use the takes with the best vibe. It's nice not having to sacrifice vibe for tuning... As long as you respect a kind of boundary in how far you push the tuning you can always have a nearly natural vocal track, plus using your natural vocal onset and offset is important to the naturalness as well. Its all trickery lol. What I really like is using it on guitar leads, because gtr intonation is its own kind of trickery you can really polish a lead with pitch correction. I like to play slow bends and the pitch correction can really smooth those out.

I concur; it blows away the first mix just by making those few little tweaks in the vocal.
