Hey guys
I've put in a lot of time contemplating this song and it's treatment... It a very special and important song to me, so I really wanted to do it justice.I am definitely open to any suggestions as this is still my first real run at the mix. I need to let it sink in, and would like to have your guys thoughts on it for perspective.

The album is so close to being done, I am getting excited! Gotta figure out artwork too lol...
Thanks guys,
Cameron

The main problem I'm hearing is that the vocal is just slightly muddy, esp. around the upper mids. As the mix develops, the vocal gets buried further and further in. I think adding a bit more top to the EQ will lift it up just enough without having to boost the level. The track as a whole may also be a touch over-compressed as well. Dialing it back a bit should help develop the dynamics (notice how the guitar is cranking away towards the end, but having no effect on the levels as a whole).
The mix in general and the balances are good; clean and easy to hear everything, but slightly washed-out.

I was hearing the lows in the main vocal well but as Mike said, the highs are not quite coming through.. It seems the Piano might be stealing part of what the vocal needs and might be too overpowering over all... Some EQing.

Thanks for the input Stan and Mike. I appreciate it a lot!
So I tried to address these issues, adjusting things from both mix bus and channels... Let me know if this is working better now... Song is at the top still.

Almost perfect-0. Only thing I might do but it's totally up to the mixer might be to hair-bump the harmony lead part up a very small amount. Still, ready to sell. Vocals come out just right IMO.

Overall the mix has more dynamics in it. Dialing back the compression just a little bit helps it 'breathe'.
I agree with Stan about the backing vocal - a little more would be nice, but it's not a dealbreaker as is.
The only niggling thing I can hear now is some slight harshness in the sibilants in the verse vocal. Is the EQ boosted in that range? It seems to be affecting the piano and cymbals in the same frequency as well. It might just be mp3 degradation. If you don't hear it in the .wav files, don't worry too much about it. Everything else sounds super. I dread doing my own mixes after hearing yours.
