Constructed this song using BIAB from scratch (since no midis out there for this one) This was an old Tom Petty from 1979 (I think on his Damn The Torpedoes LP) Sometime blues are fun to play w/o actually having to live them. lol soundcloud.com/theirishtexan/louisiana-rain

Aha, I am first this time! Never heard this one before... Blues are definitely best heard not lived lol. Interesting synths in the intro. Guitar sounds good. Vocal for the most part is quite good, however, a few moments where I think I'm hearing the pitch correction push hard. Drums sound good. The bass isn't doing it for me, it seems almost too low somehow like maybe it should be up an octave. Maybe it's just the bass sample. The mix is very clear, good separation between the parts. Vocals have a bit of harsh frequencies going on, guessing in around 2-6 kHz range. They might benefit from a bit of a dip... Nice song Stan. Not sure how far you wanna take this recording but some things to look at if you want. Always good to hear another one of your recordings!

I have double-track processing in the vocals. The bass is Midi and I can adjust it any way that I want to. I may revisit but these are the types of projects that keep me going. Otherwise I would have a whole lot of time pass before recording so I like to keep something going.
Good tips Cameron! The pitch correction came in late because my 1st post was w/o any.

Yeah, I agree with Cam regarding the bass; it's too 'thudding'. The rest seems alright. I'm not a big fan of BIAB for anything other than real drums, and even those don't sound great when you hear them solo'd. But they're easy to set up and sound better in a mix (certainly better than MIDI drums).

I reimported my dry vocal and did a very limited amount of compression. Brought bass up on octave but as Mike said the bass track was generated by BIAB and I don't really like it.. The piano track was converted to rock organ and seems good in the mix... I dumped the BIAB drum track completely and generated my own.
I feel good enough with this other than vocal flat notes and a cheesy BIAB bass track.

Bringing the bass up was a huge help; it doesn't sound like a tuned kick drum now. Still some cheese, but overall much improved.
It really reminds me of a Stones track. I could hear them covering this.

Oh man, Stan this is a big improvement! Bass is way better now and I feel more appropriate to the genre. Organ is really good; worked well, good idea. Drums feel much better. The vocals sound so much better and you know what; if there is any flatness it go by unnoticed because your vox sounds authentic.
Good work Stan, I quite like this one

Thanks you guys for your input. The drum track was mainly constructed with Nashville clips from EzDrummer but I used Superior Drummer's Roots SDX for the sound engine. The BIAB bass was given a big low-end boost on EQ but I still don't like it. The BIAB piano track was routed through a Rhodes vst plugin; and of course, the guitars were my Fender played through my Peavey JSX tube amp.
