Merry Xmas Lads, Song for my dear old Mum who passed on last year. Being a thousand miles from home and avoiding all conversations about her to my Dad, I ended up putting the words in a song and sending it to him. You'll notice my little xmas present to myself here, yamaha keyboard! Sea of LifeRob

Rob, "Sea of Life" brought a couple of tears to my eyes. I can tell this song is in your heart. Stan

Thanks Guys. In retrospect I wonder if i should have laid that one lot on this website, I really appreciate your sentiments but I have to say that you lot took me by surprise, i was just expecting the musical critique response. This is a bizarre medium we have here that enables us to touch each other in this way. So to make ammends for the soul, i decided to follow camerons desire of holza's song and provided a band feel, lyrics are incidental its just rock and roll ;D I'll put the link for "Want" on a fresh thread. (Jim, the keyboard is fantastic, i already know that i will have a long and fruitful relationship with it!)

I'm finally getting around to listening to some of the new stuff. I like this - what I'd do is bring the strings up some more in the back. Maybe some piano throughout? Everyone else has pretty much touched on some of the other points. Super.

Rob, I'd love to contribute some piano to Sea Of Life. Upload the Song folder to Marky Mark's MMM site and tell me the name of the file. Do you have software to create a ZIP file? Song data uploaded to MMM is usually compressed to reduce the file size. Looking forward to working on the song. Jim

Jim
Great! its in groupshare called SOL.zip ;D
Few ...ermmm...obstacles for you though.
Obstacle 1: 1st track is keyboards 2nd is guitar. You can delete which ever one you like cos there are errors on both, i masked out the errors in the mix.
However i suggest that you delete guitar on track 2 and keep the "strings" on track 1.
What do you think? Do you think the final mix should just be piano and strings? I suppose i should get round to learning how to bounce then i can add the guitar to the strings after you put the piano down...
In case its not clear, verse : A, Eminor ch: D,C,G....ermm i think
obstacle 2. the track starts with me fooling around on the keyboard, and then the song starts at bar 17:00. would you prefer it if i rerecord this whole thing.
let me know your thoughts! anyone else have any thoughts?
Rob

No problem. I'll see about doing a bounce, if you like, so we don't have to throw away anything. I'm going to downloaded the tracks now. If I have questions, I'll start a thread under Current Projects. Jim

Jim,
I'll follow you to the new thread when you start it (just in case your doing it rightnow..)
Don't bother bouncing what i have done already...its not worth it with the mistakes that are already there. i can redo them in a few short minutes after you...im kinda looking forward to seeing how it sounds with just the piano and voice...
i'm really looking forward to this!!
