Matt, Many times we play some of our best music sick and delirious! (Hendrix probably didn't know where he was half the time)
I thought the drums were a very consistant (118 tempo) My guitar track could have definitely been sync'd better. Sometimes a good mix will compensate.
Everything's gonna be alright.

Roger, You are welcome. You've energized several of my raw Stones songs with vocals that were something amazing. This was a great song and so I just wanted to be a part of it. Stan

OOpps, Correct that. Not my raw Stones songs, I meant to say my guitar tracks (you know what I meant). There is that ugly copyright issue again!

Hey Guys!
I have posted 7MILES.mp3 to holzra's folder on MMM's ftp site.
There wasn't much for me to do. Mike did the bulk of it when he created the submix. All I did was pan the piano R17 and eq'd piano and vocal a little bit.
Great song! Thanks for asking me to play a small part in it.

Hey Matt, Thanks for your complement on the Arbor Strat guitar part of 7-miles. The fact that this song already had a great feel and vocals before I added the track helped me quickly throw something in. In fact, I think vocals really helps a bass and guitar player become more experimental by integrating musically incorrect notes that might not normally be put in. About 50% of the track was just sliding the 3 lower strings of the "F" chord up and down the neck and occasionally hammering on the G string to get an open up down effect. Sorry Matt. I know this response was more than you bargined for. I just trying to sound like I knew what I was doing. Truthfully, it took about 30 minutes of my time. I think Mike played a much bigger part with the bass & excellent bounce and EQ to make it sound better than it really was. It was balanced very well with Roger's ryth guitar track. Charlie's final mix enhanced it further. Oh yeah, It was a straight through 2nd take. No stops or cutting along the way.Like most of my guitar I'm sure it needed to be toned down some to not drown out the other tracks. Thanks again for noticing, Stan

Actually Stan, I keyed off both guitars to get a feel for the bass & piano. Since the only track available for bass was over the original vocal, once I got the basics of the song down, I concentrated on playing along without the vocal, since it wouldn't be there when I did the actual tracks. By the time I did the bounce, it had transmorphed into something else entirely. I like it. Think I'll go listen to it again.

One thing I forgot to point out was that I redid the guitar because we both were recording at the same time (your drums, my guitar) So the 30 minutes for the track applies to the second time around. P.S. -- Matt, if you want to mix guitars again sometime I am usually ready for a challange. Your songs might be too sophisticated for me (over 4-5 chords, and I tend to forget them) Stan

Your songs might be too sophisticated for me LOL!!!! you're killing me Stan!! are you serious!?! it just sounds like alot due to tracking errors on the synth, misplaced fingers, and multiple out of tune/time instruments. LOL!! too complicated.. but oh yes point taken about guitar offer!i still have my "on broadway" posted somewher for the moment..
