Of the three songs you've done so far, this is the best. The vocal is only ever so slightly too far in front. It's almost not worth remixing just for that. It's definitely getting better with practice.

Thanks Guys..
Most of what I know how to play is Dead, so prob see a lot of covers of them ;p. And since I can't play any song like the original, the arrangements will be ummm 'unique' lol
I laid down the 1st guitar with the click track at a 180 tempo, Then arranged the pattern and the 2nd guitar at a tempo of 90 to get a double time feel.. This one seemed to be in a much more comfy vocal range, and I'm starting to get comfy with the mic. Strage how when you know you can erase it, you tend to relax a little more ;p
I love the drums in this, and when I pulled the horn up 2 octave, it really started to come out..
I was surprised at the end result of the track.. came out kinda cool.. still have some work to do on it.. wanna add lead etc.. might even bust out a keyboard to play around with..

hey spike
we should discuss doing a collaboration of a cover if you like.. if youre interested lets discuss some options.. can you play that kb? i have one too but cant really play.. just use it for accents.. charlie (objecks) is a big dead fan too and the other guys tolerate us pretty well.. maybe all 3 of us could do one!! just throwin ideas out. no obligation, anyways keep on truckin,

sounds good to me Matt.. I cant play KB much at all, I'm an accent guy like you..
My tech ability is mostly acoustic guitar using book and tab to learn the songs.. I have no riff ability at all.. one of the weirdest things was that when I go to put a 2nd guiatr on a track, I realize I don't have to do a full strum pattern.. I can leave some silence that will be filled in by the backing tracks..

re-mixed and re-panned.. definitely have to re-do the 2 guitar parts, after I got rid of most of the muddle, you can hear how out of tempo certain sections are.. Had too much reverb, even though I tried not to use too much.. This one has been enlightening from the standpoint of I learned to keep the amount of effects lower, than I normally would.. So Matt, which dead cover do you want to do? I like 'Friend of the devil' .. Song reminds me off all the crap I did wrong when I was much, much younger or we could do Greavedigger by Dave Matthews.. Anyone want to put some scorching lead over this? my lead skills are not so good ;p Jeff

i been thinking of that today actually.. would you be interested in background vocals to something like oh the wind and the rain? im thinking of your original song and your voice and i think we could do something really nice on that one, plus i think thats onea those "traditional" songs too so i dont THINK copyright would be an issue. (do you know?)
i could do friend too.. i thought these guys may be more interested in hearing a dead tune they may not be familiar with.. the jerry garcia songbook has a bunch i like to do.. (thats what started me singing actually, i got it as a gift)i picture your voice being suited to onea those country blues/bluegrass type songs..

I'm up to try anything.. hehe.. didn't realize I had a voice.. . I can't picture it being suited to anything. lol Due to this recorder and you guys here, I have gotten over my unrational fear of anyone hearing me.. Wind and Rain is good, I'll see if I can scrape up the chords etc.. been a long time since I heard it. With the Dead's view on sharing their music via taping sections and such, I never really figured they would mind a cover or 2 for fun.. So many good Dead tunes... If we do something, I wouldn't mind doing the 2nd guitar

so 2 guitars?? that could sound cool, would you use that 12string? i could get it started and pass to you and i can get you the chords.. its e a c#m and b mostly. im pretty sure. in that case (2 gtrs) we should each do something a little different, i could do the rythm with as little strumming as possible so the 2 sound unique and not over each other. if we keep guitars to 1 & 2 and vocals to 3 & 4 after youre done i could look into drums or something, maybe acoustic lead somehwre.. maybe bass

12 string will work.. gotta go through my Dead stuff and find a recording of it, chords are easy enough.. We could bounce the drums/ bass to 1/2 then record vocals on 3/4.
Jeff
"One is where ever you think it is.. " (cant' remember which Dead member said this.. hehe)

Why bounce? You can assign either input to any track. Notice how when you hold down the input A button, the track 1 & 2 button blink? While holding down the input A button, tap the button for 3 or 4, and those will blink instead. And the reverse is true for input B and 1 & 2.

picture this: deep elem blues with the tube distortion and tremolo cranked up belting out vocals LOUD .. i had an awesome little jam last night it was sounding pretty good!! (i know its usually a little acoustic number it sounded pretty good).i have this vocal/acoustic amp that dims the neighborghood lights when it goes on with lotsa effects.. fun!!
i just found out my acoustic has a lifetime warranty which i filled out and had signed by the musicshop owner this am on the way into work. nice!! ill get the guitar back sat (setup) so it might be a bit..

only reason I suggested bouncing was to record the 2 guitars on 1/2, the Bass/Drums on 3/4, then bounce to 1/2 to leave room for vocals on 3/4.. same idea as you all are using on the Time song project..
I have to dig out my concert tapes to find a version..
hehe.. I had a good Jam last night too.. I put a new song I'm doing on repeat, and practiced my lead skills. When I finally put it down, I realized 1.5 hours had gone by.. Did I say I love this thing? ;p
