And so we enter a new phase; The influence of Can't Tear Us Apart starts to bear fruit. Good to hear an intro, which many of your songs lack. I like the tune, I like the strings. You can play more complicated parts, and it'll do even more for the backing of the songs. Solo is good, but I like the 2nd half of it better than the first half. The chorus has the patented 'latmat stumble' in the drums. The transition from verse to chorus (around 1:11) is somewhat abrupt, altho the next two times it's better. A good compressor for the vocals might be the next worthwhile investment.
What I didn't like was the ending. It's a song with swoop, with majesty; the end just peters out. Cam, the song deserves better.
Still, I'm looking forward to the textures available now for the next batch of songs. Rubbing my hands with glee, even.

Some really good backing tracks and effects! Everything is right out front which mean no flaws or someone will instantly notice. In other words, I couldn't get away with attempting a song like this.
Vocals were right on pitch. A tiny more instrumentation echoing on the back (after vocals stop) might have helped, but it has really nice quality throughout.
Enjoyed it! Stan

quality recording. voice is really nice, i especially like the voice in the first verse, sounded really relaxed...second verse didnt have the same feeling, which is fine...also when the voice goes to the chorus ...for a moment it sounds like its just to hard a leap for you. Now i know you will get the hang of this by your next song!! point im making is that it would be interesting for me to hear a mellow song all the way through with the sort of feeling you had in the first verse...just some thoughts...

Hey Guys,
I got my new toy the 2488, and redid this song on it. If you want to check it out I'd sure appreciate that!
Thanks, Cameron

With a title like this, I'm awfully tempted to finish the phrase, "You Make Me... ...Sick To My Stomach" ...Want to Join A Monastery" ...Shut Up", which is what I'll do now (withdrawing under a hail of boos and shower of rotten tomatoes.) How many songs have you written anyway?

I really liked this until the overdriven guitar came in. It's just too loud and overdriven. It works well in the solo, but those power chords are just waaaay too a) loud, and b) crunchy.
Otherwise, it's not a bad recording. Bass is nice and punchy, it's very clear and clean overall. Now that you have the 2488, I'd certainly record vocals with the compression ON. Mix-wise, the drums were kinda limp. Maybe more EQ/volume on them, but that will come in time. I know this is a first effort with a different machine.
And just like the PS5 version, the end just stops abruptly. Not good.
Honestly, I'd redo the vocal or remix it with compression. The whole song would benefit from a serious remix - nothing I've mentioned can't be repaired. It's still a good song, and it still deserves a better treatment.

how do you change the EQ on the drums Mike?

The 2488 may have the ability to EQ the built-in drum tracks. The only way to do it in the PS5 is to copy the drums to a track (like you did with your vocal mp3 in 'Time'), then you can EQ them. But you lose a track or two doing that. Probably the best thing for Cam to do would be to bring them up in the mix slightly.

Mike, one question. Now that latmat has a 2488, shouldn't he be on-line somewhere else. I know just the place

Cam, Congrats on you new piece of Tascam equipment!
I thought the song was very good quality. To my untrained ear, or my headset, I thought that your vocals were excellent.
The burst of the cranked guitar in parts disrupted the mood or feel from the song, but musically there were no glitches. The lead part was really smooth!
I liked the way you extended the distorted guitar sound at the end but I would gradually start fading out just after vocals end so that there is no noticable cutoff.
Great job. Stan

H.F., "Rules and Regulations, who needs them? Throw 'em out the door..." CSN&Y -- (Won't You Please Come to Chicago) O.K., now back to reality... the oldies just keep invading my inter-thought process. "Don't ask Jack to help you cause he'll turn the other ear." ooop, it started again.
