Yes, and I'm a big Cars' fan too! Keep them gators out of your new flowers now; ya here.

Cajun ? You too, Stan ? Looks like there's more French blood around here than one would imagine...
Your new "flowers"-page works well over here, GF. It's a bit slower than with the original skin, but no problem.
Since it's summer season, most of my music buddies (the hard core of your French fans) are on tour playing festivals and what have you : they will probably never have noticed the problems with the previous GF-skin, so no legs are broken and all is well.
Looking out for your new songs (and videos ?), GF. In the meantime, have a nice open mic nite : I'm sure it will be great.

Chris, Not really, about 25% Irish, some Scottish & Black Dutch (add 50% Choctaw Indian to my boys) -- 0% Cajun... but Cajun food is at the very top of my list; not to mention the music!

Ah yes. Well, for me it's 50% French (a French mom) with a bit of Italian on that side earlier on, and the rest seems to be a mix of Flemish/Dutch and German with a pinch Hungarian, so I'm told.
My native tongue is Dutch, but my everyday language is French of course. Still, my French friends say that I have a bit of a Canadian French accent, and my English speaking friends tell me that my English sounds slightly Canadian as well. I really don't know where that comes from : I've never been to Canada.
In fact, none of the languages I speak seem to be 100% accentless : there's always that slight little something in it, coming from different places. So there could be a few % of blood from who knows where - maybe even from Scotland (love them kilts...) or from Ireland - as well.
In a way, we are all partly foreigners of ourselves, I guess.

FYI....open mic nite was FANTASTIC!! A crowded house. High energy! I sang Sheryl Crow, Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplansky, Indigo Girls, Steve Earle, and a Beatles' duet! All upbeat, kinda rockin tunes. It was SO much fun. I posted a picture from the night on my website. I have video, but it just ran the whole time, so I can't figure out if I can separate each song. That's for another day. Ha! I'm missing the company of my PS5, so tomorrow, I hope to begin recording some of my new songs. But today....I REST!!! Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Well, I finally got around to watching "Falling" and "Time". Both very nice. The overall tone reminds me very much of Kate Bush, Sarah McLaughlin, and Mary Hopkin's greatest album, "Earth Song/Ocean Song". The videos look slightly more professional, having someone to turn the camera on/off without you having to get up. Maybe the next thing to experiment with is feeding a line-level signal directly into the recorder to cut down on all the hiss.

Thanks for watching and for the nice comparisons!! I was actually by myself and still had to get up and down, but I realized I could edit the start and stop with the flip cam! It's the only editing that can be done, though.
There is a threaded opening at the bottom to mount it onto a tripod and a little opening on the side that says "tv." The opening is smaller than a quarter inch jack. It's the size of the jack that plugs the built in mic and the headphones into the PS 5. I think it's just an output, though, so I don't know if I can feed anything into it.

I was looking at the specs of the flip cam, and there is indeed no line in and not even a microphone input.
I guess the main thing about those flip cams is the "simplicity" of it all. Very easy, yes. But there's not much you can do "extra".

W/o software you are pretty much stuck. Sonar is able to enhance the audio (mono) part of the Flip avi using Fx effects. It can also latch vid frames to music time points so if you recorded the audio with another device, along with the Flip, they could be synced later with an amount of effort.
The software that comes with the Flip allows an option at add music but there is no synchronization process to align anything. The main selling point for the Flip was to make it very simple. If recording live shows then its mono built-in mic is not the answer. At home with just acoustic and vocals in a room setting it comes out pretty good.

I posted video clips from my two open mic nites since you guys couldn't be there. I got a new table top tripod yesterday, so next time, I'll try to shoot from a closer vantage. You already know, the sound and pic quality are not going to be superior, but I see value in posting anyway. First, it keeps me humble! ha! I can look back and see where I need to improve...in lots of areas! Second, IMO it personalizes the site a little more, and just seems friendly and keeps it real. It's just for fun. Hope you guys are having a nice weekend.

Ah, those open mic nites....
I was talking the other day to the bass player of our first band about open mic nites. The guy remembers just about every gig we ever played (I don't), and he said no, we never did any open mic nights. From the very first gig on, we were thrown on the stage "for real".
Anyway, I think it's a good idea to "get in contact with an audience" as much as possible. Being able to perform on the stage is a very important part of a "music career", and in fact, it's by far the most fun part of it all.
You don't seem to be overly nervous there, do you, GF ? That's good. Overall, a good performance, I would say.
Well done !

GF, I really enjoyed it!.. lots of footage to wade through. Wish there was a way to hook up direct input from the PA L/R stereo channels into your recorder (mainly to filter out all the audience noise), but this a very common with built in mics. Actually the sound was pretty good considering.
